WordPress Blog Comment Spam

Do comments that are off topic do any good at all?

Ok this is a tough topic, because for the most part, Comment spam is not only offensive, but abusive, but what if it could be made to be productive?

Ok stay with me for a moment, while I take you through the comment spamming process.

The idea is to advertise a URL, by commenting on a comment, I know sounds sort of scary, but there are software products that people use from a desktop or even from a website, so what is happening is that no one is really reading your blog post, and that is problematic, you want people to read it, but what if some people read the blog post because it has comments?

What then? If you stop all comment spam, then that reduces the number of hits your website gets, right?

Technically, but what if you could make use of that automatic software? Is there a benefit to be had from these automatic software posters? Perhaps, there is and in more ways than one. Here is an excerpt from an article about comment spam, “One of the most serious problems with any blogging system, including WordPress, is that the comments area is wide open to that scourge of the Internet, spammers. In this case, it’s comment spam.

Comment spam is created by people seeking to boost their Google rankings by having lots of links pointing to their own websites. This causes a wide variety of problems:” Now, here is the thing, they are right, to a point, but if you cant beat them or defeat them, how about turning the tables on them? I began to think about how you could make the comment spam into real benefits for a website and I came up with a couple of good things.

1. a ping is a ping,

2. comments are comments, well most of the time they are. What I realized is that if I designed a plugin that would allow a comment for say a certain period of time and if during that time someone confirmed that the comment was a real comment, then it would get posted, with a do follow link and if it was not confirmed, by a real person then it just gets deleted. This way if they are good comments then you and they get a benefit, but if they are robots, or just not real people then you turn the tables on them and you get the only benefit, and that is a ping…

Get it, Good, because while you may not be able to stop it you may be able to take advantage of it.

Updating content

How does your blog grow, by small increments, or by big huge massive posts?

website content is about to become one of the most sought after services.

You could hire a website content writer to write your content.

When you think about it, creating backlinks and other issues, can cause many problems, for your websites ranking, on many forums you can see ads for thousands of back links, and then later you see someone crying about how they got banned by search engines, yep no surprise there. If you said that you should grow your website by using solid marketing techniques, in small increments, then you get the lolly pop award and you deserve it too. The problem is that too many webmasters want to take the short cut to the fast track when they are not ready for that step in website development. It is all about the pattern, and if you do not know what that is, then read on because this may be one of the most important articles you have read in a long time. If you are not updating the content on your website as often as you can you are doing your self a dis service. How not updating your website daily could cost you more than you ever thought possible. Patterns, they all say something unique, and if your not careful what you are not saying to the search engines could cause you trouble.

How important is updating your website?

Would you say that it should be updated every week or once a month? The truth may shock you, the truth may be more than you may want to know. Would you be surprised to learn that you should update the content on your website every day in fact several times a day would be best. You can over do it, but the trends seem to indicate that updating your website with fresh and interesting content is very beneficial to your websites value to readers and customers. The facts are that most website operators fail to update their websites on a regular basis because it is time consuming, of the top 20 million websites, only a few are actually counted when looking at Alexa for traffic statistics, actual traffic analysis is not available until you reach the 999 thousand websites, that is not easy to do for most websites. The very fact that we are talking about most websites ranking amount the top three million says something about the sheer number of websites there are out there these days. With so many websites, and so much content, how do you stay ahead of your competition? That is the basis of this article, how updating your website effects your rankings on the internet and how it can help your business to have more traffic. First we should say a few things about how a websites value is obtained, it is a top secret thing for many search engines, however, there are some factors that are known and some that are unknown. Naturally it is not in the interest for a search engine to publish its search characteristics, because then people would be tempted to game the system to obtain results usually reserved only for high budget, corporate websites that spend lots of money on advertising. So it is a easy to see why the search engines want to protect the way they make money from large corporate clients that clearly can spend millions of dollars every year doing business online. The facts here say that updating your website will help you, but how much and how often that is the real question. We setup several websites from scratch and tested this out, on some websites we setup the content and just left it alone just to see what would happen. On other websites, we updated them monthly. On still other websites we updated them weekly. Finally we updated some websites every day. The results are clear, the more you update with fresh content the more traffic you receive and the better your website is indexed in the search engines.  We took a hard look to not just at the one website but at the others too, the ones that were less frequently updated received less traffic, they received less of everything in fact. So, again, the more you update your content with fresh content and new content, the better your website will perform, the problem here and this is a big deal is that most people do not have the time to devote to updating a website, it takes time and effort. That is why we started using plugins to adapt the time we had so that we could produce better results in less time… The results is in for this test too, the more we used the plugins, the better results we received, we also learned a great deal about what constitutes updating, for example just updating the time and day was not enough. We tested several websites where there was content which is commonly referred to as an auto blog or auto posting website. These websites performed poorly in fact many could scarcely produce even one or two traffic visits per day.
