Installing WordPress Manually

There are a lot of very good reasons not to use auto installers.

Lets examine a few of those things in this post today, There are several popular scripted agents that will install a software program automatically, however this is not something that you want to do, for the very simple reason that it produces far too many default settings, such as the names used in the settings, this creates a problem.   When you examine how it works and you fully understand the dangers it can create for the novice user you know that you just should say no.  A scripted agent operates at a level above the user, in most instances you have public_html/website There is one level above that which only the account user can usually access.

This would be represented like this, / or username/public_html/

I know that a lot of people tend to try to say that installing wordpress should be as easy as using the push button installer, but let me tell you it usually results in less security for your website, it means that you might end up with a website that gets hacked so much more easily that other websites.

Methods of securing your wordpres installation are not that difficult, however you should be aware that there is no bullet proof process that guarantees your website is completely safe.

The problem starts when you begin to use a scripted agent that is located in a place on the hard drive where no normal user exists, this means that in some instances, (depending on how the hosting account is setup) you have the issue of installing a script, from root/whm/  this operates far above the permission levels that most users will have access to when that happens you have many potential problems that can create issues for you and your clients.   Learning how to install wordpress manually is a simple process and like most learning situations once you learn how to do it, you will find it easier to do the next time you try it out.
